Healing Grounds

Connecting CAM and conventional care: article in De Natuur Uw Arts

July 21, 2026

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and conventional medicine were separate worlds for a long time. That in-between space is exactly where Healing Grounds is building a bridge. Isabel Brouwer and Enny Hoenselaar wrote about it in De Natuur Uw Arts, a Dutch magazine on natural wellbeing published by Stichting Natuurlijk Welzijn, issue 304 (July/August 2026).

The article is about a movement they see happening all around them: more and more professionals, and more and more people looking for care, are moving between those two realities. The old one, where keeping them apart was simply how things were done, and a new one, where people are actively looking for connection.

Waiting until the body starts shouting

The body speaks, but understanding what it says is not always simple. People often wait until the body starts shouting and symptoms appear before they take action. They then frequently end up with a medical specialist. But what if that specialist finds no physical cause? And what if you would rather listen while your body is still whispering?

In the Netherlands there are many holistic health professionals who look beyond symptoms to the person as a whole: body, mind, living environment and meaning. For people seeking care, that broad field is hard to navigate, and doctors do not always know who they can confidently refer to. Healing Grounds grew out of that need.

Not choosing, but connecting

We do not choose between body and mind, or between conventional care and CAM. The starting point is that connecting serves a shared purpose: health for people and planet. The doctor, therapist or coach does not decide the route to health, but supports a person’s own capacity to heal wherever possible. For visitors that starts with a Clarity Session, a wide ranging reflection on your own health that brings into focus what you are really after: where do you want to go, what do you want to feel, think or do again?

Together we are creating a movement in which care becomes whole again, with head, heart and hands.
